Crave Subs

Crave Subs

Crave Subs is a fun, pop culture-themed sub sandwich shop! It is enjoyable to walk into because it is bright, colorful, and lively. On the walls, you will see old comic books, and on the menu, you will see that the sandwiches are named after pop culture icons like Bart Simpson, SpongeBob, Shrek, and Tom & Jerry. In the background, you can hear the speakers playing upbeat music. It really comes off as a cute place to grab a bite!
When you walk in, the first thing you see is their extensive ice cream, gelato, waffle, and crepe bar to the side (see my post on Scoop N Chill). On the other side, you will see a row of silver metal tables with red chairs that give off a somewhat festive vibe. Finally, you will reach the counter where you can place your customized order and pay with contactless payment.
The menu offers a variety of meat subs, veggie subs, and vegan subs, all with fun pop culture names. All the subs are served with their delectable crave sauce, lettuce, and tomato. The subs are made of yummy bread stuffed to the maximum with hefty fillings. They require big bites and an appetite! You can add curly fries, a can of soda, a bag of chips, or a cookie to your sub sandwich order.
For those seeking something healthier, there is a selection of cutely named salads as well. There is also a selection of loaded fries and even vegan loaded fries, which also have fun names.
I enjoyed my experience dining here. The environment was fun, and the food was tasty. This sandwich shop takes an original spin on the classic notion of a sub sandwich. The result is a selection of sandwiches that are delightfully fun to chomp into.
In the way of sandwiches, be sure to try the Patrick Star, a delightful fried chicken sandwich doused in Korean barbecue sauce, the Pikachu, a slightly spicy grilled chicken sub, and the Buzzlightyear, an impressive pesto and arugula turkey sandwich. These subs are flavorful, substantial, and truly live up to being crave-worthy (pun intended).
But the loaded fries here are just as good! Crispy, salty fries are served smothered in meat and cheese. Like the sandwiches, these loaded fries have a symphony of flavors, layers, and textures, but unlike the sandwiches, the crispy, curly fries serve as the base, adding a punch of salty flavor and crunch to an already enticing blend of meat, cheese, and seasonings. In particular, the Wolverine and Goku Black loaded fries stand out as some of the tastiest, most irresistible meals I’ve had.
All in all, Crave Subs is one of the most exciting restaurants in Berkeley! It’s fun and cartoon-themed, but the cute decorations do nothing to outshine the delicious food!

Full disclosure, Crave Subs gifted me a free meal recently, which I gratefully enjoyed!
