Winchester Mystery House The Winchester Mystery House is a museum that is worth checking out whether you live in the Bay Area or you are a visitor!  Once the home of Sarah Winchester, an unfortunate heiress who lost her husband and child, this Victorian mansion is full of mystery. Sarah came from the Winchester family that was wealthy because of their rifle business, and she was sure that the ghosts of those who had died of Winchester rifles were responsible for the deaths of her husband and young child. To keep the ghosts at bay, she tried to keep adding onto her home; she believed the sounds of construction would protect her.  Thus, the construction continued for decades, eventually making for a total of 160 rooms, 110 of which are on display now. Museum of Craft and Design OPEN Thursday-Sunday from 12–5 PM CLOSED Monday-Wednesday 2569 Third Street San Francisco CA 94107 415 773 0303 This small museum in the Dogpatch region is worth seeing. It focuses on modern art and contains a nice gift shop full of interesting selections as well as an exhibit that costs a reasonable fee ($8 to $10 last I checked).  The museum cycles in and out new artists and displays, so come back often and enjoy!
