Bua Thai Kitchen
Bua Thai Kitchen
On San Pablo, near the border between Berkeley and Albany, Bua Thai Kitchen appears a little run-down from the outside, but the inside is gorgeous. Decorated with artificial plants and sophisticated, stylish light fixtures, the restaurant has a very formal, relaxed, and comfortable feel, and it serves incredible food, despite being relatively inexpensive.
It’s a sit-down restaurant where a friendly server will take your order. The speakers play soothing music to cancel out the sound of the other diners, giving it a luxurious but understated appeal. The service is fast, and the chairs and tables are comfortable, making it a nice place to sit and wait for your food. Even before your food arrives, the entire restaurant smells great!
The menu is relatively extensive, featuring almost everyone's Thai food favorites. They have a variety of rice, noodle, and curry dishes, as well as many different soup and stir fry options.
I ordered the Pad Thai with beef. It was served hot! The small pieces of meat were tender and full of that salty, citrusy, and slightly citrusy Pad Thai flavor. Then the noodles are soft and flavorful as well, but they had a slightly lighter and more peanut-like flavor. The cooked egg bits added a softer contrast to the punchy flavor of the dish. And the carrots and green onions added that extra crunch and pop of flavor. There was even an extra lime slice on the side in case I wanted more citrus. The dish was a carefully curated blend of sweet and savory flavors. It was complex, yet easy to devour.
The other customers seemed to be enjoying this hidden gem as much as I was. The restaurant is managed with great pride in culinary excellence and an appetizing ambiance. Every dish comes carefully prepared for the maximum wow factor. It is not just your everyday Thai restaurant; it will exceed your expectations for taste and simultaneously not bust your budget--the prices are incredibly low for that type of attention to taste and quality!
They accept Apple Pay as well as other methods of payment. They take walk-ins and reservations. Although the restaurant appears small from the street, it has lots of room to accommodate many guests at once in its beautiful dining area. The only downside is that they are only open for lunch.
I will most certainly be back for more!
