Peasant Pies: A specialty shop focused on sweet and savory pies
Peasant Pies
The menu is short and posted on the wall, and the pies are on display under a glass case. After you read through it, you order and pay at the counter. The pies and the coffee/espresso/tea drinks cost about an affordable $6 each. The staff will choose from the cute pies under the glass case to fulfill your order. You take a seat, and they will bring you your food once it's been heated up. Everything moves at a relaxing pace. You can stay and eat for as long as you want, but you are expected to clear your own table. It's not fancy; instead, it's casual and home
The pies served at Peasant Pies are not only inexpensive, but also extremely satisfying. They’re substantial but not large; I think the pies are an excellent portion size. If you’re still not satisfied after eating one of the handheld pies, you can always get seconds for about $6 each. I find them to be filling without being oversized. Unlike some restaurants that serve massive portions without regard to health, these pies are filling without tempting you to overeat.
I have tried and I like their sweet pies, but the savory ones are next level, and they are what makes this place so popular. With a savory bread-like crust that encases a tender, meaty filing, the beef and potato pie really stands out. It’s a pocket of rich, tomatoey and meaty satisfaction that melts in your mouth, causing you to savor every bite.
A pie shop with savory pies is a very interesting idea for a restaurant, and I think it’s been executed beautifully by this chain. The pies are nostalgic and satisfying, and the ambiance is old fashioned and adorable. I know I’ll be back.
