Downtown Berkeley has another Thai restaurant you should take note of. It’s called Little Plearn, and it’s a beautifully decorated Thai spot with great food and low prices.
Little Plearn is decorated with Thai artwork, dangling artificial flowers, large windows on the storefront, and a mirror along one wall that helps illuminate the long, narrow eating area. It has great service and a lovely ambience. It makes even an everyday meal feel like a festive occasion.
Little Plearn is a fantastic place to get a lot of food for only a little money. The menu shows pictures of the different options next to their rather affordable prices. For example, the Pad Thai with chicken, tofu, or beef is only $16. They also have a fantastic lunch special available from 11-3. You can pick from seventeen stir-fries and noodle dishes and pair them with rolls and salad for $16.95. Rice and peanut sauce are an extra dollar each. 
The huge portions come out from the kitchen hot and beautifully arranged on large plates. It’s a great value, as the servings are large and filling.
The food is not only attractive and inexpensive, but it’s also intensely flavorful and embraces the basic elements of Thai cuisine, from the spices to the garnishes to the choice of other building blocks. The meat and noodles are cooked perfectly and expertly to recreate Thai classics, then attractively heaped onto massive plates and served to hungry patrons. Each bite is well-balanced and satisfying, and the entire meal is a treat for your senses. The chefs take great care to serve high-quality dishes that don’t taste as cheap as they are.
It’s a very relaxing place to enjoy a leisurely, long meal. The large dishes take longer to complete, and the atmosphere invites relaxation and comfort. It’s quiet and peaceful, a perfect place for nice conversation over good food. There’s no rush. People don’t come here to gobble; they come to savor.
The food here is easy to swallow, but the taste sticks with you for some time. The warm crunch of the egg roll and bright, slightly tangy noodles of the Pad Thai are so satisfying that they will continue to fascinate you for hours after the meal, and soon you will find that you are craving more. Fortunately for you, the restaurant is open seven days a week.

Gusto: Berkeley's HOT new Algerian restaurant!

'   Gusto In my opinion, this might be the most exciting new restaurant in Berkeley right now! The stripped-down, casual setup allows the real focus to be on the food and company. It’s the first Algerian restaurant I have tried in the area, and it pulls off a menu of Algerian flavors with real gusto (pun intended)! You order and pay at the counter or kiosk up front. The menu is short and to the point, and the kitchen works relatively fast, churning out beautiful, delicious Mediterranean (Algerian) dishes in a jiffy.   The Melt The Melt is a fast-food chain with multiple locations across California and Arizona. It takes a high-quality spin on the classic notion of an American fast food joint. As the name suggests, they take some pride in their melted cheese. It's fast food, but they take care to provide a uniquely tasty product.
