Dave’s Hot Chicken is famous for fried fast food chicken. It's a cute
and modern fast food restaurant with festive red chairs, modern art,
and windows that let in sunlight that focuses its efforts on its
famous fried chicken. There’s seating indoors and outdoors, and
throughout the restaurant, you can hear the speakers belting popular
music. It’s the kind of place with a broad appeal that draws eager
customers of all ages. I wouldn't be scared off by the word "hot";
they also serve milder options for those who need them.

You order from a limited menu and pay at the counter, keeping in mind
that this place specializes in one thing: fried chicken. The service
is friendly and fast, in my case taking about ten minutes altogether and not
costing more than other fast food. The chicken can come as large or
small tenders and big or small sandwiches. Not only that, you can
choose from seven spice levels, which go from no spice to spice so
intense you have to sign a waiver to get it. They also have shakes,
soft drinks, and fries. The food is affordable, and the customizable
spice level sets it apart from other chains. Sauce is included, but
you can buy additional sauces.

Excited by the options, I opted for mild (the third option) because I
wanted just a little spice. It turned out a little hotter than I’d
heard it described to be, but still not overwhelming. The chicken came
from the kitchen extremely hot and dusted on its crispy exterior with
lots of spices and other seasonings. The exterior had a nice crunch,
and the interior was soft and moist. Meanwhile, the spices on the
outside gave it a subtle bit of heat that paired nicely with the salty
fries I also ordered. The chicken came with a creamy and tangy sauce
and some free packets of honey; together, the sauce and honey did a
perfect job cutting the spice and adding flavor to the chicken. I
gobbled my chicken and fries, but that was when I noticed the slow,
lingering burn that it left behind. It came with a nice, slightly
toasted piece of bread and some cool pickles that helped calm my
tingling taste buds.

I ordered the ten-piece Dave's Bites with fries, and found that the
portions were generous, and I got a very filling, good-sized meal for
only $12.12 after tax. The Dave's Bites were each big enough for two
or three bites, and I received plenty of fries. Sometimes fast food
joints will lure you in with low prices but give you something that's
either too small or something you don't want. However, I was left feeling that
I'd gotten a great value for this price; the food was amazing, and
there was genuinely a lot of it. I got 10 medium nuggets, a few
handfuls of fries, a piece of toast, and some pickles, plus free
ketchup and honey. I came hungry, but I left entirely satisfied

This was a positive experience. The food lived up to its fame as
the home of some great chicken; the choice of spice level gave it
intrigue and personality. The eating experience was brightened by an
enjoyable, playful, fun, and modern ambiance; from the music on the
speakers to the art on the walls, the environment was designed to
produce those extremely chill, exciting vibes. And the prices were
beyond fair; I actually left marveling at what a good deal I got. I
know I'll be back to try the other spice levels soon!
